windows 7 tweaks

Hey guys, today I have a quick post for you. Recently, I was cleaning up my dell studio (cleaning up as in organizing files, reformatting, new windows installation etc) and since I had to reinstall windows, I realized that I never write an article on windows :) . Well, it shouldn’t be a big deal but, as a windows user for almost forever, I just wanted to contribute some stuff that I know and find useful.

I got my first macbook almost a year ago which is pretty awesome. Being a tech-savvy person, I was able to grasp the concept of running Mac OS successfully within a month. Believe it or not, you won’t know why internet marketers, video producers and animators love Mac so much until or unless you get one and experience it yourself. I edited and produced my 1st video on YouTube using final cut pro which is awesome and then I use screenflow for my screen recording and much more. Enough said about Mac; this being a windows related post should discuss some windows stuff now.

There are ton of tips and tricks for windows 7 and if you just Google the term, I am sure you will find them. However, I do have a few personal tweaks and tricks that I find it very useful. You might be able to find the same tricks on other websites but how would you even know that the code or trick existed if you don’t know the term? How would you even go about searching that? :) ‘well, that’s the point, and thats why I am sharing this with my readers.

God Mode

This is an awesome tweak and I love it. Its called the god mode. It was first revealed by the CNet’s Microsoft Correspondent, Ina Fried. I personally find this hack very useful since I like to have control over stuff from once specific point. So what does this GodMode do? It is just a folder that displays a long list of tweaks and customization settings allowing you to change whatever you want from one place :) This is pretty slick and I find it quite useful.

So how do you get this GodMode?

Its pretty simple. Go to to your C drive which is C:\ and then create a new folder just like shown in the picture above. Rename the folder to “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” without the quotes.

Press enter. The folder icon will change and when you click on it, you will feel like god :)

Browsing Full Screen

Another simple trick is, browsing full-screen. Open up any browser such as Opera, Chrome, firefox which ever you use. Start browsing and simply hit the F11 key on the keyboard which will make it full screen. It’s a fact that a lot of windows users have no idea what this key does.

Preview open windows using Aero Flip 3D

I discovered this couple of months ago and it is really slick so check it out . With Flip 3D, you can quickly preview all your open windows (for example, open files, folders, and documents) without having to click the taskbar. I know this is sweet especially when you have ton of windows and tabs open at the same time.

Flip 3D displays your open windows in a stack. At the top of the stack, you’ll see an open window. To see other windows, you can flip through the stack. See the image below, that’s how it looks like.

View 2 Windows Side By Side

Another awesome find is that you can view 2 windows side by side. This is very useful when you are blogging or copying text from one source to another etc.

Minimize open windows or Peek at Desktop

Last but not the least, you can also minimize all your open windows and show the desktop with just a click of a button. This is very handy and a lot of windows 7 users do not notice the “show desktop” button in the task bar which is located at the bottom right beside the clock.

show desktop

To see your desktop without closing your open windows, minimize all of your windows at once by clicking the Show desktop button next to the notification area at the end of the taskbar.

quickly preview desktop

You can also temporarily preview or “peek at” the desktop by just pointing your mouse to the Show desktop button. The open windows aren’t minimized, but they fade from view to reveal the desktop. To show the windows again, just move the mouse away from the Show desktop button.

I hope you find this tweak, tricks and tips useful. I will be adding a few new categories and posts on this blog and will be sharing some of my experiences and latest finding in the next upcoming days. I will also be revamping my video channels and will be releasing some new videos so I would appreciate your support. I love teaching because that’s how I learn more about the topic. I am an internet hustler who never stops nor think about quitting. I look forward to connect with my community on a personal level and that will happen very soon. Don’t let failure stop you from following your dreams. Until then, keep hustling and nothing can stop you from doing what you love. Talk soon!

PS: If there is any other windows tips, tweaks and tricks you know and find it useful then please post in the comments below and ill consider adding it to this list.
