WordPress emails an auto generated password for security reasons. The user can change it upon log in. It is also to simplify the registration.As far as the Register Plus plugin, you need to modify the settings to allow for them to create their own password.

You are talking about the themes and designs here. Plugins cannot change the look of a WordPress blog. Plugins help you to automate stuffs and offer several other features. You can get tons of gaming themes online. If you are serious about the site then you should consider paid themes. You can check out woothemes or themeforest, they have good collection.

I prefer Thesis because it is very powerful and easily customizable. If you are not sure about how to change wordpress theme then just google it. Good luck

Well of course you can do that. WordPress 2.9 has various options but whats the point in searching for plugins that you havent tried before. I have had numerous experiences with plugins. Some of them did good while some crashed my server. I suggest you verify or read more about a certain wordpress plugin before you actually implement them in your blog

I think assuming you have a newer version of WordPress, in the admin login, on the left side, there's a plugins section. Clicking Add New from there will let you search the WordPress plugin site and auto-install them.
