Twitter is widely used and at some point it was getting more traffic than facebook. Wherever you go, you are most likely to see the stupid blue bird. Although, the stats are 1-2 years old, you can simply make a wild guess of where twitter stands now.
Twitter Facts & Figures
One of my favorite and I still think the information is quite accurate. 30% of twitter is BOT and 20% is dead accounts. I have heard some popular marketers saying that out of 100k of their followers, 50k+ are simply bots. Take a note of the peak days and hours for tweeing. This shit may come in handy
Re-Tweetable Time
Dan Zarella is one of my favorite social media guy and he knows his stuff quite well. Recently I attended one of his webinars where he talked about twitter and email marketing. The above infographic is useful for marketers. As you can see, the best time to expect re-tweets are Mondays and Fridays.
Twitter Trends
Twitter trends are the funniest stuff. Its ridiculous at times when you see some crap trending. Bieber is probably the hottest trend followed by sex, fuck, suck etc. Twitter, work work work on this shit dammit!

Facebook Vs Twitter
At the very beginning of the post, I mentioned that twitter was more popular than facebook at a point of time. Well, that was past. Currently, you cant compare twitter with facebook. Facebook, the friggin social media giant has taken a leap. Facebook has 600 million users which is at least 6-7 times more than twitter.
Facebook has also worked on their spamming policy which has reduced the number of fake accounts and bots. Above all, you can laser targer your prospects on facebook which makes this platform a haven for all marketers. According to Mark, the fb team is planning to implement new stuff and make improvements in the upcoming years.
Verdict
Twitter is huge; probably the only popular microblogging platform as of today. Although twitter cant beat facebook (according to me), I still believe it has some potential and we should tap into it because you never know, some shit can become popular all of a sudden . Let me know your thoughts…
